Junior Refuge Manager
Friends of Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge encourage families with young children to explore the refuge through participating in the Junior Refuge Manager Program. An activity booklet for the program is available for sale through the Friends Nature Shop for $3.00 or you can download it here.
The booklet offers ways to discover the varied wildlife in the refuge and find out how they are protected. The program is designed for children ages 5 through 14 to do with their family. After a page is completed the child can have a refuge volunteer or staff person sign the page. When all the pages are finished the child earns a Junior Refuge Manager pin, a gift certificate to the Friends Nature Shop, and a new appreciation of the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge.
Periodically the Friends group offers programs to help children complete a page of the booklet. Check the events calendar for upcoming events or sign up for email notices to be alerted to these programs.
