Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge is known for its wintering populations of hawks and owls. Come to the indoor introduction to see some of the raptors up close and find out about their lives. Live raptors from the Avian Wildlife Center will be featured. There is a suggested donation of $2 per person, $5 per family. The program is free to Friends of Wallkill River members.
The second part of the program will be outdoors at Liberty Marsh to look for the raptors hunting in the area. Ken Witkowski will lead the group and help all find and identify the birds. Dress warmly and bring binoculars. Refuge binoculars are available for loan for anyone who needs.
In case of bad weather the program will be held the following day, Jan. 3.
